Masonry Industry Promotion Group
In the News 2004
Washington State University The design problem for this project is a 2-story "residence" for students of Washington State University, above a ground level "storefront" dedicated to promoting a university-student "presence" in downtown Pullman. The project shall provide a showcase for the aesthetic and functional qualities of masonry - brickwork, concrete masonry, and/or stonework.
Students will be required to learn the essential construction principles of masonry including the various masonry products, mortars, and modular assemblies, and then design a building that exemplifies these principles. The structural system for the building will employ structural masonry combined with steel and/or concrete; however, masonry must be the primary visible material in the building, both interior and exterior.
